The video is a digital realisation of 'what lies in the place unknown?', my final collection for my knitwear masters.
I wanted to be more versatile and broaden my skills beyond garment making, which is why I picked up on digital fashion, a field I believe will be increasingly relevant in the fashion industry.
This video was created using a combination of different software. I started by making the basic pattern of the garment in Clo3D. However Clo3D struggled with knitwear, especially when my collection involves a lot of structure and partial knit. For the hood in Look 1, I had to first scan in the basic texture of the actual fabric in Adobe Substance Sampler and then modeled the partial knit loops in Blender.
For look 2, the fabric was made with the Shima Seiki power knit machine, to get the see through effect I simulated the fabric with Shima Seiki's simulation system, which can be saved without a background colour and simulates every tiny loop of the knit. The simulated fabrics were then imported into Clo3D.
The entire scene was modelled in Blender and all of the objects from different softwares were imported into the Blender scene. Finally I rendered out different animation cuts and edited them together with background music in Adobe Premiere Pro for the final presentation.
